MATHEMATICIAN/PHILOSOPHER

Known as the “Father of Chemistry”, Robert Boyle’s work included the discovery of air’s influence on the transmission of sound as well as investigations into specific gravities, reflective powers, crystals, electricity and colour. He is perhaps, best known for ‘Boyle’s Law’, which states that the volume of gas is inversely proportional to its pressure at constant temperature.
