FOUNDER OF GUINNESS BREWERY

The founder of the world famous Guinness brand, Arthur Guinness’ first experience of brewing took place in Leixlip where he brewed ale in 1755. In 1759 he moved operations to Dublin where he set up on a twenty-four acre plot of land now known as St. James’ Gate, which is the site of the brewery to this day. Guinness’ son Benjamin brought the beverage to the worldwide market and today it is estimated that 10 million glasses of Guinness are enjoyed daily across the world.
